Septoplasty Surgery

    Hi all,

I had septoplasty surgery recently. The reason that I had it done was because I had trouble breathing through my right hand nostril, especially when sleeping.

After the surgery and when the swelling had decreased, I noticed that the surgeon had actually operated on my left hand nostril. I queried this with him and he said that that was the procedure for the operation, he said you had to operate on the good side to correct the bad side.

I was sceptical at the time and even more so now as it hasn't corrected my original problem.

Doesn't anybody know what the procedure is for septoplasty and if indeed you need to operate on the good side to correct the bad side.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
