Alot of this is taken from other movies but thought it was interesting. After watching it I think a Green Lantern movie could really work, more so than Wonder Woman or Superman. What do ye think? Green Lantern be a good movie?

Wow, that's really good - up there with the Batman vs Predator & Grayson fan trailers. A Green Lantern film like that could actually work, and with a suitable storyline and script you could even make it work as a trilogy (part 1 - Hal becomes Green Lantern after being found by Abin Sur, part 2 - the Green Lantern Corps arrive on the scene and Hal starts to realise that this is a much bigger thing than just being an earth-bound superhero, part 3 - something like Emerald Twilight crossed with Sinestro Corps war, with the overall dramatic arc for Hal Jordan going from the challenge of becoming a hero, through concern about losing his connection to humanity as he goes galactic, through to a crisis of confidence and ultimate acceptance of the responsibility he's accepted and its implications).

Now, given how badly Superman Returns was received (haven't seen it, nor do I have any interest in doing so) I'm not sure that DC are interested in throwing the money behind such a project - it'll need a strong cast and a serious SFX budget, as well as a solid script that avoids Michael Bay-style "generic action film" tropes.

Its Warners Bros that would do it tho no? They own DC I think. Would be surprised that they wouldnt try again outside of just Batman, considering how well Marvel movies are doing.

Think the movie could work because he is just a man, he only gets the super power, rather than born with it like superman and wonder woman. Most of the single character superheroes movies that are successful nowadays tend to be about a man who becomes a hero. Also you have all that really cool mythos in the Green Lantern, that would work well in movies I think. That said Superman has done well in the past and so did wonder woman so u never know in the right hands something could happen.

DC is a subsidiary of Warner Bros [who in turn are a subsidiary of Time Warner] but that doesn't mean Warner Bros would make the film if there was one being made.

If such a film was made it would most likely be distributed, at least in North America, by Warner Bros but it could be made by a number of studios. If it were to go into production right now it would most likely be Legendary Pictures who produced the recent Batman films, Superman Returns, 300 and Watchman and have a distribution deal with Warner Bros until 2010 but in theory any studio could produce the films.

Cool didnt know that was how it worked, thanks.

Though seems a movie is being made:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1133985/

Though wont be out till 2011, so good while away.

It's only been annouced, until it's actually shooting I wouldn't say it's being made. The Wonder Woman film went further in production then that and it got smacked to development hell.

Awh that fanmade trailer looks cool - Nathan would make a brilliant GL -- I love him in almost anything he's in.

It'd be groovy if they do manage to get into proper production and not crap out like WW and bag themselves Nathan & a decent script

Looking forward to this film. Martin Campbell knows how to launch a franchise.

It helps that the Green Lantern comics have somehow managed to more-or-less eclipse Grant Morrison's run on Batman! Johns' run is pretty incredible and I think the character may finally be getting a long overdue moment in the sun.

Campbell as director I find very "eh", not pushed about him one way or the other. I find him a competent but nothing really special as far as directors so. I'm more worried about the listing for DP - Dion Beebe would not be high on my list for good camera work. The two films he gets praise for, Chicago and Memoirs of a Geisha, are two films I really disliked precisely for their camera work which I found to be weak and uninteresting.
