    Folks,
I'm trying to find, and hopefully buy, a copy of this book. Sheridan was an Irish American thrower and the book was published in Mayo in 1998. If anyone had a copy they were willing to sell or swap (I have a fairly good collection of athletics stuff) I'd be very glad to hear from you,

    Thanks,

    Mick.

Hi Mick, yes I have this. However it's the property of a club colleague. I'll see if he wants to let it go (no charge I imagine) in which case I'll PM you.

It's a great story - Martin Sheridan of Bohola. He broke all sorts of throwing records in the early part of the 20c. Representing the USA in the 1908 London Olympics he was part of the Irish-American faction that refused to lower the flag when marching past the King.

In Athens in 1906 (The Intercalated Olympics) Sheridan beat the 'unbeatable' Greek discus thrower Davidecas. The King of Greece had a statue of Discobolos erected in his honour at the stadium. Not bad for a Bohola lad.
