    Theme: Evil Music!!!

    http://movies.ign.com/articles/998/998629p1.html
UK, June 26, 2009 - Nathan Drake is swinging to the silver screen, with Columbia developing a feature film based on Sony Computer Entertainment and Naughty Dog's Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

One of the PlayStation 3's early standout titles, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a third person action game with unrivalled charm, mixing Boys Own adventures with Tomb Raider-style exploration in a combination that earned an impressive 8.4 back in 2007.

According to a recent article on The Hollywood Reporter, the film is being penned by Kyle Ward, who is also at work on adaptations of Kane & Lynch and Hitman 2, while Avi Arad - whose credits include Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk - is heading up the production.

Nathan Drake is returning to PlayStation 3 later this year in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which was one of the most impressive looking titles at E3.

Dear god, it's been written by the same guy whose doing Kane & Lynch and Hitman 2... this can only be an epic failure...

Ugh the games are basically movies as they are, except much more immersive. I smell an epic fail on the horizon. If they don't get the guy who voices Nathan to actually play him, it's doomed before it even starts.

I mean the latest trailer for Uncharted 2 looks better than nearly every movie trailer released in the last couple of years!

    Nathan Fillion tbh.

It'll probably be cack but I am the eternal optimist so...

Ah yeah, I'd be okay with Nathan Fillion actually. I wouldn't be so pessimistic about the film if there was actually a good writer attached. But as it stands, I can't see it be anything other than dire.

The thing is, we know nothing about this writer. He hasn't actually written anything yet. You can't really judge him on the games' writing.

Well, I guess this will continue the 100% failure of game-movie adaptations...

As for Nathan, Joe Flanigan (Shephard ion Star Gate: Atlantis) looks, and sounds, just like him.

On no the games' writing was actually good, Ideally they should write the movie.

I guess I mean mean an unproven writer, one whose dragged in to do video game movies, I'm assuming to basically just write set-pieces. I'd have very little faith in the studio either trying to do anything than make a dumb action movie. I'd love to see Nathan Fillion cast, but there's no way a studio will go for him, I'm guessing someone like Jake Gylennhall, or the biggest name actor they can get who'll 'lower' themselves to doing a video game movie for the cheque so they can go off and do a 'serious' movie for scale.

I would love to be pleasantly surprised a la Pirates of the Caribbean. If Paul WS Anderson or Brett Ratner signs up to direct, we're screwed! Gore Verbinski might be a possibility though. The Bioshock movie seems to have stalled and he seems to appreciate video games.

The only kernel of hope I have is that it's Sony who are making the movie, and I can only assume they don't want to tarnish their most respected new IP by associating it with a cruddy movie. Then again, no one sets out to make a bad movie, just a profitable one.

EDIT: Just thinking though, if Sony are handing the reigns of their franchises to unproven writers it gives me hope that I'll fulfull my ambition of writing the Infamous movie :P I just have to make sure I do nothing until a few months before it's announced!

wasn't anticipating the game too much untill I saw that trailer!!!! Your right, that is better thatn a lot of movie trailers.

balls, another 50 quid i'll have to shell out!!

    RE: The Trailer

Has to be the best looking game on PS3 ever.

I'll be shelling out for it anyway. Unfortunately never got the first one, only played the demo over and over. But the new one looks amazing and if it improves on the already excellent gameplay of the first one then it's going to be the new flagship game for Sony.

If this game doesn't move PS3s off the shelf then I will lose all hope in humanity.

Movie isn't a bad idea so long as the writer and director have the same plan. I'm a big fan of Nathan Fillion, loved the Firefly series and Serenity.

I would like to see Bryan Singer direct it. He did a great job with the X-Men films before Ratner ruined the finale and also he did The Usual Suspects...Brilliant if I do say so myself. The writer would be very hard to determine but I wouldn't mind the team he used on X-2, David Hayter (the one and only), Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty (worked on Heroes Spin-off Heroes: Origins)

Ahh man I can not wait for this, but I would prefer to see it as a movie without actors (because it will ruin it) Actors in it would probably be a failure but then again it should be a bit of a change.

    It might be good.

Sure, games of movies usually suck, but the other way around?

    We'll see.

Super Mario Bros., Hitman, Max Payne, Resident Evil, Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, Street Fighter, Silent Hill, Tomb Raider, Doom, DOA Dead or Alive, Double Dragon and there's more I think. I think it's pretty safe to say movies of games usually suck also.

Look at the making of videos in Uncharted in the extras menu. Nathans voice actor doesn't look like much of a platformer

back on topic, for uncharted the movie, they will probably get Matthew McConaughey and pair him up with Kate Hudson who go hunting for treasure together but get chased by pirates who want the same treas.......oh wait...

I didn't see Resident Evil, but Max Payne was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I hated it. I can barely remember Tomb Raider it was so forgettable, but I remeber being bored and thoroughly unimpressed! Didn't see the second one though.

the resident evils werent as bad as they couldve been tbh. theyre definitely watchable

uncharted could make a really, really bloody good movie franchise though
