My dog has taken to chewing my post, not visa bills and stuff you could happily live without, but really important things like my new passport which arrived yesterday. The cover is a little chewed, but the inside is perfect and the photo page doesn't have a scratch on it. Just wondering if it will cause me problems that it is marked on the front? I have included a photo of it (and also of the offending dog looking all guilty )

If all the pages inside are fine then it shouldn't cause a problem. The only potential issue is that some countries border security can be quite anal about the condition of travel documents but it doesn't look too bad in this case.

Buy a leather cover/holder for it and it will look brand new. There should be no issues with it. My passport is in worse condition and I have never had any hassle.

Ah how could someone get angry with that dog.

You could buy a cover for your passport, like the way a hardback book has the paper on it.
If you buy a cover for the passport it will hide any evidence of it been chewed.

EDIT: jonny24ie got in there before me :)

Cool dog, think he doesn't want you to go...

O another note, it doesn't seem like he had damaged any of the main area's..
If you know someone with a ultra vilot light run it under it, you should see a few extra harps over the picture,
also have a look at the dotty picture embedded in the center if thats untouched you should be fine

Bring it with you and when you pass a Passport office you should show it to them and let them tell you.

Dublin or Cork only presently. The Limerick passport office is due to open in the OPW in Limerick in August.

My passport is in a similar condition thanks to my 9 month old son who got it out of my bag and used it as a teething ring. I put a cover on it and had no hassle in Paris or Cork.

It's a very cute dog - and in fairness he/she does look very sorry about it all.

If I'm been totally honest, she wasn't one bit sorry. And yes, she is very cute. :)

Thanks for all the replies! Think i'll go with the cover idea and hope for the best!

She's so cute! My son has those big brown eyes too so I couldn't stay cross at him for very long. I'm still impressed with how he stacked 2 cushions so he could reach the coffee table, took out the passport and stashed it under the coffee table for later!

You DO mean a child when you speak of your "son" and not a dog like some people who think of dogs as people.

Texaco garages are selling a leather passport cover for €4.99

Argos sell a cage to trap / protect your mail for €19.99

He can be a little pup but he's my son of the human variety. We're a bit animal mad in our house, so much so that my 3 year old (human son ;0) thinks he had kennel cough whe he last had a cold!

I wouldn't like to take a passport like that if I was heading to the United States, I could nearly guarantee you would be denied entry. For travel within the EU it would probably be ok, sure only ourselves and the Brits need passports for travel within the EU as both countries are not members of Schengen due to the Common Travel Area between the UK and ROI and the only way of maintaining the common travel area would be if both countries joined Schengen simultaneously and there is a better chance of the Britain leaving the EU than joining Schengen.

That photo of the dog is a fraud. I know for sure the OP has superimposed the dog onto the bottom of the bed because that is not real life!!!

    Fraud at its worst kind.
