Coffee in New York

    Hi people,
I'm heading to NY for six weeks. Will have an apartment affair, and need advice on the following.

Where to get good beans and what beans do you suggest? I'll need to get them ground, as I can't lug my Rancilio Rocky on the plane. (should I mail Intelligentsia and get them to deliver?)
I'll be using a cafetiere italienne in the apartment.

Also good coffee shops. Any recommendations?
I'd also like one near where I'll be staying (57th street / 5th avenue)
    Thanks for any help
    def

(can only vouch for the Waverly Place shop though)

(downtown again - and expensive - but nice beans)

Stumptown at the Ace hotel are supposed to open next month.

You're right to ask, I was there last August and the standard of coffee served generally is just shocking.
