I'm bringing my boyfriend to the Opening weekend of Oktoberfest in September and I'm just doing accommodation searches and was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on camping grounds or budget accommodation??? Ideally somewhere clean, comfortable and good craic...

I know that one. Deffo good craic there.

Ryaniar are flying to Memmingen now by the way OP. Its about 2 1/2 hours by train to Munich. You can take the regional trains and it will only cost e25 for the both of ye. In fact you can travel the as far as you want in Bavaria on those tickets for a day. Up 5 people can travel on them too so it pretty good value if you pick up a few mates in the hostels in Munich!

A little tip: About 40min trains outside Munich there is a small mountain called the Andechs. Monks live in a monestray up there and being Bavarian brew there own beer! Its about a 20min hike up the hill and there is a nice beer garden at the top. During Lent the monks brew there own 'Lenten Beer' which is about 8% abv! Apparently (according to my German friend anyways) this beer is full of all the vitamins and mineral needed to survive and the monks consume nothing else for the duration of lent besides this beer.
