My other half is planning on selling her car privately and with all the news about dealerships closing etc, I was wondering if anyone knows what the market is like for private sales - is it the same? i.e. in the crapper?

Yup! If you do go private, give it a good clean, price it realistically, get it up online - try adverts.ie and do up a few flyers and stick them up in your local area.

If its in good condition and priced competitively you will get some response but don't expect a quick sale

It's a 2001 Celica in good nick, just passed NCT and 111,000 on the clock.
She'll probably advertise it for 6.5 and go as low as 5.

Anyone think that's realistic? She's not really in a hurry (baby due in November) but before the new arrival would be good.

Had a quick look at carzone, car seems to be reasonably priced though there are 2 similar cars with 65K for the same price so might be worth putting it up at 6?

Cheers Blues, I'll get her to do that so.
Ahh if only sporty cars and babies mixed....love driving that thing when I'm allowed ;)
