Ebay Shipping Weird One :)

    Hi all,

Looking for advice on this one. I'll try to keep it short.

Last week I won an auction for a jacket. The seller is based in London and I'm in Dublin.

After auction end, I contacted the seller to say...'hi, could you tell me how much it would cost to ship to Ireland? If this is not convenient for you, I can give you a relative's address in the UK to ship it to.'

A few days later, I get that 'You have received an invoice for a purchase' email. When I had a look, he had sent me an invoice with the Dublin address. The shipping cost was ALOT more than I expected, so I decided it would be best to get it shipped to my relative in the UK at a fraction of the cost. Here is where the problem lies....

I have changed my delivery address in Ebay from Ireland to the UK, but the postage cost has stayed the same. I have mailed him twice asking him to resend a new invoice with the shipping address on his side of the water, and I would pay immediately. Now 4 days have passed...and.....nothing...no word.

Where does everyone stand on this? I have won the auction, but I haven't paid for it yet, as he has not sent me the correct invoice. I am a long time ebayer with over 100 purchases, but this is a new situation I have found myself in!!!

    Any ideas peeps???

    thanks

First, you should always check the delivery cost before bidding, if it's not displayed.

Second, he's not obliged to give you a cost to the UK address, as this represents a big risk for him, shipping to an address other than that of the buyer. He may be thinking this is a scam, and could be having eBay investigate your account, hence no reply.

All you can do is wait.

as stated above you should never bid on an ite, without first checking out postage. Postage can be higher than the seller(especially if they use courier) thought or they will add onto it if the item didnt sell for what they thought it would. Or he might want to sell it anymore and is making things awkward

I have had items sent to a friends house(albeit without changing my paypal address) but ebay sellers arent supposed to do this as they arent covered.

I often do the same as you, using my relative in NI.
It's not essential to check shipping costs before bidding as the backup is always there if seller refuses or charges extoriante costs to ship to Ireland.
There used to be an option to adjust postage with paypal but that options seems to have disappeared.
I think you need to keep pestering the seller.
At least he can't leave you neg feedback..
