From LA's Twitter page just now:

johanbruyneel: On the radio ban in 2 stages of the TdF? I absolutely disagree. What's the benefit of returning to the prehistory?23 minutes ago from UberTwitter ''

Is that actually LA's comments? I wonder if whoever wrote it feels the same about other scientific and and technological advances in cycling or any other sports

RT means a ReTweet ie it was johanbruyneel comment that Lance was echoing.

He's a DS - of course he wants full radio contact.

I, for one, am delighted the ASO are experimenting with this.

+1 -I remember reading before that the peleton is pretty much split down the middle on the issue. I think it'll be great to have a race with no info being passed electronically

I think this is really going to suit guys like Sylvan Chavanel and Tommy Voeckler, I wouldn't be suprised to see one of them win a radioless stage.

I'm not surprised Lance doesn't like it, he's a control freak when it comes to the tour. Would he have won so many without JB on the bird dog?

    Heh, is that CB related?

Would be great to see a few radioless stages, at least to see what difference it makes. Any GC threatening breaks would be tighly pursued I presume, but riders who won't figure in the GC would have a much better chance of a stage win. I imagine lots of attacking.

Really like the idea of a few stages without radio....it will add to the drama. Too many TDF stage strategies are decided by the managers before the race - having no radio will put the decision making power back on the riders...

That's a big 10:4 lukester. Sorry about that, yes it is CB related

Excellent, brings me back to my youth, in the chicken-mobile with the handle 'bigfoot'.

CB was kind of like the internet. Without pictures.

Its apparently the reason Mancebo won stage 1 of the TOC.

Whats the bet that Lance or Levi will have a mini TV as they cycle along listening to EUROSPORT talking about gaps a breakaways during those stages..

In fairness when you are the most important rider on the planet you have some right to demand things are run your way. If Lance was to threaten to withdraw from the Tour, that might lead ASO to rethink things... I am sure he would have the full support of the rest of his team to press the matter. He should lead a rider's protest at the start of those stages and then go on to blast the field apart, radio or no radio.

I'm not sure who you think thinks Armstrong is the most important rider on the planet, but certainly alot of people I know were glad to see the back of him a few years ago and aren't too enamoured to see him back again.
