Have a PC which i am attempting to fix it went berserk yesterday when it started to install automatic updates.

When you start it up it attempts to install "Update 3 of 3" with the usual warnings not to turn it off its sits at 0% than after a few seconds it reboots the computer with the same performance again and continues to reboot.

It will not load into safe mode.
Have run system restore says no restore points

Other than full factory restore any ideas ??

    Its running Vista Home

to stop vista updating on reboot...

boot pc from the vista dvd

    click Repair Options
    select command prompt

    Now type in

    C:
    cd WindowsWinSXS
    del pending.xml

    reboot
