It's held twice a year, on the Wednesday following the first full moon after the vernal and autumnal equinox.

so what is this auction like usually. anyone ever see really good road bikes at it. the thing is, if someone has a really good road bike and its nicked surely they report it to the gardai properly in which case it doesnt end up in auction.

The stuff is rubbish, people end up paying too much for crap bikes, avoid it like the plague, buy a road bike off someone here or adverts.ie.

Thats what I thought. I went there in 1994 and spent 20 quid on a racer with broken gears, 2 punctures. It was the worst money I ever spent. I think you go determined to come back with something and next thing you know youve bought something you dont want.

Went to the one last weekend. Full of rubbish.
Mostly Rusty/broken supermarket bikes.. waste of time..
    Didn't see one decent bike.

My brother went along on Saturday and picked up an apparently decent steel-framed '80s racer of European make* for thirty quid. He reckoned he got it cheaply because it was bundled with a piece of crap MTB. No idea why they'd be bundling bikes together.

Said there was a lot of iffy stuff going not too cheaply though. Depends on what you're looking for.

    *"Favorit"?

I went to the last one and must say it is crazy. Why do people want to pay over the odds for a bike that looks like it'd barely move. I think people just get caught up in the idea of out bidding other people.

I think they are bundling them together to just get rid of them.

its on every second thursday down by the docks in Bray 6 or 7 gards selling them off usually the ones damaged after a good unsuccessful chase, then 20 or 34 knackers raid the docks looking for the gards.
