It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Dealers trade cars all the time between each other. Its their choice what they ask for it. Hardly a rip off as it's for sale and no one has been ripped off:confused:

I offered €11,995 and was refused.
    In my opinion, that's a rip-off.
    boourns!

Why? You haven't been ripped off yet. You just haven't been sold a car...

If you were interested in the car, which you apparently were by keeping the add, why didn't you make an offer when it was up for €11,995

No, it's not a rip off.

A car is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. You paid nothing - you made an offer which was refused. Simple as.

Do you know what the current dealer paid for the car? If you dont then how do you know for sure they didnt pay more than 12k for it

    What's your point?

If a customer in Dublin decides that's good value, then it'll sell. If it's over priced, then it won't.

Have you checked how it compares to similar cars in Dublin?

Maybe motorvation had to do some work on it after the bought it. In general, they seem to be cheaper than average, which i assumed meant they used ex-fleet or something.

Has anyone anything good to say about these guys?
They have a 5 series there at a good price but I'm thinking of giving them a wide berth based on what's being said here. Seems a pity though.

Actually I think this is a good thing..... it shows that garages are setting prices independantly and not in cartel style....

Might be overpriced but not a rip off.... big difference between getting ripped off and something being over priced....

your gona make an opinion because of one guys meaning of being ripped off?
what if the 5 series they have is immac and in exactly the spec your looking for, you should go see the car and form your own opinion. imo

    Fixed that for you. ;)

Just because they are asking that price doesn't mean they will get it. Cars that are generally overpriced in the current climate tend to have moss growing around their wheels.

No, not at all. I'm going to have a look at it alright.
However, a Google search of Motorvation and Boards.ie turns up a few results, none of them particularly flattering. :(
Still, one can always take precautions such as check the full history, get a mechanic to check it over etc etc.

I wouldnt let that make my mind up. 1 in a 100 happy people tell their story to someone else. 50 in a 100 unhappy people bitch a lot more. :D
Even if a million people were happy with their purchase from these people you'd still find the bitching stories first ;)

yeah, just do the usual checks but since your a bit worried about the dealer, just be anal about it. check it abit more than usual to satisfy yourself.

a bad dealer stil gets good cars imo

hope it works out ok for ya!

I got ripped off by this crowd too a couple years ago...
Very unhelpful... once the money was handed over they didnt want to know when I started having problems with the car.
They made me feel like a thick - like I didnt know anything cos I am a girl... it was just a horrible experience dealing with them...
I dont want to publish the whole story but if PM me if ya want to know more!
never again anyways... run a mile!!!

I was NEARLY stung by them too about 2 yrs ago. But once fixed (yes it was going to go legal), no problems since.

Make sure when you buy a car from Motorvation:

    1. that it clealy states on the SIMI receipt for the warranty : "ALL INCLUSIVE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY".

    2. The service done is the proper service due for the mileage! not a quicky oil&filter when the timing belt is over-due

I bought a car from them in 2014. Before buying I was told there is a warranty on the car etc. One day later it turned out to be there is an issue with the car, I contacted Motorvation straight away and was told that they will talk to their mechanic and will send on parts that were faulty (without checking what is actually wrong with the car!). I suggested I can go to some local garage (approved by them) to check/fix and they can get the money sorted with them but they insisted on sending parts… Obviously the part they sent (after about 5 reminder phone calls) wasn't the part that was broken and the other part was from a different model of a car..... and didn't fit! Anyway, spent a 1000 euro fixing the car as the issue was pretty serious and I was lucky that I spotted it on time as otherwise the fix would cost me few grand.... Let Motorvation know. Obviously they pointed back at me saying I didn't contact them and didn't let them know about the issue (SERIOUSLY??!!). Said will contact me again to let me know what solution they came up with... SILENCE. Not reliable company, once they get their money they wash their hands off everything... DEFO NOT RECCOMENDED.

    Old thread lock

Also regging onto boards and digging up an old thread about an establishment to give out is not on.
They may (or may not) have changed their ways/management/owner.

If you have specific questions and need advice you can start a new thread.
