Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui

In your opinion are these the best places to go in Thailand and are we trying to do too much in 2 weeks.

Each destination will give you a totally different experience of Thailand. Make sure you pick the right time of year for the weather if that's important to you. You'll never find a 'best place' to go in Thailand as there are so many islands and different parts of the mainland to explore but you'll certainly start off well with those three parts of the country.

No i wouldnt say your trying 2 much.
I did bangkok, phuket, phi phi, kho sumai, koh phangan and another island i forget the name of. Amazing time. For me phi phi was best, so chilled out and relaxed. For nightlife koh phangan obviously but aslo bangkok was really good (if the smell of the sewers dont bother you, i can still get the smell 2 years later). Dont worry too much about where you go, its going to be amazing regardless where you end up

Did those three aswell, though did it in 4 weeks. I think it's still fine - we took the train, great deal, though if you can afford it go first class, as one of the 2nd class trains we took was pretty crap with no running water and lights broken....the 1st class cabins are dirt cheap and it's a great way to travel I reckon. Feels safer than flying :)
