This match is at Donnybrook in August

Presale tickets (for season ticket holders) went onsale via Ticketmaster at 10.00 today

At 10.06 there were no adult and no child tickets left (at any price)

At 10.48 there were no child tickets being offered - just adult tickets or family tickets (for 4 people - whereas I just wanted 1 adult and 2 child tickets)

Why do I feel that once again I am a victim of a combination of incompetence and ticketmaster gouging.

I know I have the option of not buying the tickets but ....

I wanted to go to this game - but 20 and 30 euro for tickets is just too steep.

    your username says it all.

Join a club, pay the small fee and you will be in a pool for tickets.

Amabokke - these tickets have gone on presale for Season Ticket Holders only - so he essentially has paid a fee and its still a bit of a mess. Ticketmaster are a pile of crap.

This is why stadiums can't be filled, EUr30 is steep and the Lions tickets are EUR110. How do they think in times like this people can afford that?

Leinster had average attendence of 15,000, stadium is 18,000 - 20,000 depending on addational seating been added and now their Heineken Cup Champions so obviously more people will want to go and its only right that people who have been supporting them for years get tickets. Irish are also in their Heineken Cup group so this will be a good test.

Look at Munster - They have increased the attendence by 12,000 and it's still impossible to get tickets. This is great for Irish rugby.

I do believe that too many tickets got to corporate and hospitality but this is what brings in the cash so we have to live with it!

Since I started this thread - let me throw in some more observations

I am paying for 3 season tickets for Leinster - why is it so difficult to get tickets for a friendly match.

Why do tickets for this friendly at Donnybrook cost more than I paid for my Heineken cup final ticket.

Why do tickets for this friendly at Donnybrook cost more than I paid to see London Irish play Newcastle at the Madejski last January

Ticketmaster charged a huge handling fee on the season tickets I bought this year, last year and before that. Each year this handling fee costs more than the value of several individual match tickets. How does this "spend" benefit Irish rugby,

truthfully there was probably feck all kids tickets for this match, There are still plenty of tickets available though for this as far as I know only little over a 1000 of the 6500 tickets were sold this morning.

yes I thought the prices were a bit on the high side but I think they are the same as any other Leinster game (and €20 is actually that bad) and given we are playing London Irish there is a lot of interest in the game given they are in our Pool for HC.

Not everybody is unemployed, believe it or not. The Leinster tickets are a little on the steep side but it's to be expected given the popularity.

Just picked up 2 adults tickets at e20 each no problem. I do resent that 2.95 handling fee though. 15% per ticket is taking the p!ss to be fair.

Nobody said everybody is unemployed. You don't need to be unemployed to struggle financially. In SA (as was Amabokke's point) the average wage (and resulting discretionary expenditure) is a lot lower than here and therefore 110 for a ticket is extremely excessive.

In Ireland, a very high proportion of people have been affected wage cuts, tax increases and loss of reliefs on mortgages and that's ignoring unemployed people. Therefore, to charge more for a pre-season game (in which it's unlikely their Lions will start) than people have paid to watch the HEC is excessive whatever way you look at it.

The effects of the ticket prices are clear to see in SA from the smaller crowds and the same is likely to be the case here. In SA it shows extreme greed on the part of the organisers to as such put the opportunity to see the Lions tests outside the financial capacity of most people.

In Leinster, I think there is a greed element but I mainly think this shows a distinct lack of respect and appreciation for the Leinster fans who have supported them through good times and bad (which have been many I might add).

And I am a Munster man so I have no vested interest in this. The first Munster pre-season game here in Cork after winning the HEC was 10 in and free for kids.

The fact "not everybody is unemployed" is a very sheltered view imo and perhaps part of the reason behind a perception of some "Leinster fans" in a certain way.

Relax the kacks there GymJim. I already pointed out that I thought it was a little on the steep side for the Leinster tickets. It was obvious I was referring to Leinster only in my post.
I have already voiced disapproval on the crowd sizes in SA for the Lions tour and it's silly on the part of the SA Rugby Union to price their tickets too high.
Getting back to Leinster their popularity is riding the crest of a wave at the moment so the branch were always going to cash in.

    €20 lids seems well steep.

The Queensland Reds game this time last year was well worth it. As far as I can remember. Went knacker drinking in Herbert Park to bless the season beforehand.

Ticketmaster have messed up Leinster tickets on every single occassion over the last year. Every time there has been problems without fail.

You can get terrace tickets for €10 and I'll be getting mine from Spar in Donnybrook. ;)
