Does the current spell of hot sunny weather we are having affect your sleep pattern?

I for one find it a near impossibility to sleep in this heat.

Hot weather during the day makes me tired.
If it stays hot at nighttime (holidays usually, not Ireland) then I can't sleep!! No escape!!

I went to bed at 7 am this morning.

Up at 9, and then off to take a driver theory test.
Bollixed, but passed the test, so who cares:pac:

Still feel ok though, Monster energy and a rake of
caffeine tablets always does the trick.

But to answer your question, far too humid for my liking.
A fan would be dandy right about now.

    Fcuk you Mr sun.

Hot mornings are a nightmare. I always get the sun in my room in the morning (if the sun is there, of course). So have to get up and open windows and then I can hear everything outside. So yeh, it definitely affects my sleep.

I propose people sleep in a bath filled with ice.
Won't do much for the bladder, but you can't have
it both ways now in fairness.

A mod two days and you're sleeping in silk sheets? Man, I gotta re-negotiate my contract

Then there's the Almighty Cushion on the floor in case I fall out of bed and a nice cup of java on the locker.
A box of Terry's and the number of a good doc should I fall ill with a strange disease.

    You got no memo?:pac:

Watch out, that coffee can be a bit like Tar sometimes, all that extra caffeine might end up making you go nuts and run into public and do the full Monty, and if there are any rabid dogs about you might get bitten and end up with Rabies

That's why I have the good docs number.
    You have it too, right?

It was sent out in a memo, maybe you missed it.:pac:

Around 11:40pm, 25C, nearly 90% humidity (central Illinois). Nice!

    I never sleep anyway
We had 1 (one) nice day yesterday, it was ok, not HOT and already there are people complaining, as I was enjoying the rare nice weather yesterday I encountered a number of people complaining that it was too hot, the same people who complain its too cold, too wet etc.
Irish people should enjoy it while we have it, it doesnt last too long anyway...

holy christ, too hot to sleep... What are you sleeping under, 4 duvets or something? Are you sure you switched the electric blanket off when winter was over? It must have been 12 or 13c last night, hardly feckin' saharan stuff is it? Ridiculous thread...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,658 ✭✭✭✭The Sweeper

I can safely say I am sleep affected when it's 35 degrees during the day and drops down to no lower than 24 degrees at night. When the humidity in that weather is 80% and the sweat films on your whole body like an oil slick, occasionally tickling if it makes a droplet that'll trickle downwards, and you spend your days wearing a vest and shorts.

There's only two things to do in that weather at night: drink neat bourbon over ice and go to sleep naked with the ceiling fan on full and an egyptian cotton sheet handy to pull over yourself when it finally cools down a little towards dawn.

You adjust to hotter climates very quickly. I wear a jacket at anything under 21 degrees these days.

    drink neat bourbon...

Ugh you've been in Australia too long if you would take that "drink" over a nice Scotch or even Irish Whiskey

Think I'll buy a bottle of Jim Bean on the way home from work today.

I don't mind the heat, it's just early sunrise. I need some pretty hefty curtains or I'll wake up with sunrise... which, when it's earlier than 5, is a pain in the arse.

I living in Abu-Dhabi at the moment and find it hard to sleep with the A/C on as I get dehydrated during the night but also cant open the window as the out door temp at night is still around 38 degrees! So my solution has been to turn off the A/c get a wet towel and place it on the bed and cuddle into it. Wierd thing is its always bond dry in the morning.
