    Hi,
I'm sorry to be asking but I've read plenty advice on what types of food to eat, etc, etc and all that but I'm still gaining weight.

I'm gaining fat since moving to an office job and I desperately want to be lean again.

I really don't know how to structure a diet or what to eat and specifically how much.

I'm try to eat little and often so I'm constantly feeling really hungry because i'm afraid to fill myself up in meals.

I can go to the gym after work but 2-3 nights is all I ever make at max. I know people say If I was dedicated i would but this is as much as I can genuinely make it with other commitments, I've tried adding an extra walk or two the other nights if i can.

I'm quickly becoming VERY tired and worn out from the exercise. I put in a lot of effort when i do go but its useless. I still put on weight.

I've read mens health and mags like that but when they feature guys who loose weight the guys are eating huge amounts and running marathons and loosing weight. I don't run marathons and I'm not a power lifter, I need to eat less to loose weight.

Can anyone help me with where I could find an exact diet to follow? I know I ahve to eat less to loose weight but do I have to be STARVING all the time and still feel like I'm going up the scales?>

Please help, I'm really desperate and need to sort this out. But I've been trying to do it alone and I'm not getting it right.

I'm just over 13st, I need to be down around 12 which I know means I'll be leaner with no belly.

All help and advice is appreciated, I really need some help here, thanks all!

Low carb, high protein seems to work for a lot of people. Has you considered weight watchers? It lets you have treats without having to restrict yourself!

read the stickies and also read the stickies in the fitness forum (fitness: the basics) to work out how many calories you should be eating.

As a rule of thumb stick to whole, unprocessed foods. Generally if it's packaged and has more than 5 ingredients it's not much good but stick to everything in moderation if you find cutting sugar out hard.

Breakfast maybe porridge, fruit, natural yogurt, eggs - scrambled, omlette etc.

Lunch and dinner: salad maybe: lots of greens as they are fiborous and fill you up. Tuna or other fish, lean meats such as chicken and turkey. cut off visible fat., steak, sweet potatoes.

Go for slow releasing carbs such as porridge, brown rice etc.

Snacks: cottage cheese, dark choc(over 70% if possible)

Become educated about nutririon. read up and it will help you make smarter choices.

Is it normal to feel really hungry constantly and totally void of energy as a result of trying to loose weight?

no... you might feel a bit crappy if you are coming down off sugars and caffeine.... but i've recently cleaned up my diet and i feel great after only a week and a half....

avoid processed foods.... drink lots of water.

Depends on how big a calorie deficit you are on. You have to work it out yourself. Far too many people are in a rush, 1-2lb per week is the safe recommended level. Personally I was happy with my 0.5lb per week weight loss, then I stabilised at 12stone for about a year, losing fat and gaining some muscle at the same slow rate, due to taking up weight/resistance training.

A deficit of 500kcal per day is 3500kcal per week and in theory 3500kcal will put on or take off 1lb of fat. So if you eat 500kcal extra you put on 1lb per week. I would combine the 2, eat 250kcal less, and exercise 250kcal more to achieve 500kcal deficit per day.
