So as we walked home me and my friend were discussing the Film.

He says to me that he Thinks that.....

Considering last summer gave us Iron Man and TDK, they're both of a very low standard. Still though, nothing could be worse than Salvation IMO. Star Trek is still the one to beat

The new Terminator movie had giant transforming robots in it.
The new Transformers movie had a robot disguised as a human in it.

The franchises have blurred into each other!

Extremely overrated moive IMO.. If people weren't so sychophantic when it came to Robert Downey JR im sure most would agree.

They both suck but Terminator Salvation was one of the worst hollywood blockbusters I have ever had to endure. I hated every minute of it.

I enjoyed many scenes in Transformers 2 in a kind of "fast forward to the next good bit there Ted" way.

I do actually agree to a point. While I'm plenty sycophantic about RD Jr. I wouldn't call it a great film. It was a good origins story that never really took off. I enjoyed it and thought it was well done though and I'm very much looking forward to a sequel. Iron Man seemed to me a bit like X1, too much vanilla. I hope with the Iron Man sequel they will step up to the level of X2. They could easily do something brilliant.
One thing I did think was weak was the actor (Terrence Howard?) who played Starks friend, and he's being replaced in the sequel.

On topic, Terminator is a far superior film. Everyones jumping on this band wagon when it comes to Christian Bale and how bad he supposedly is. I can only wonder how much of this comes from that recording that was released way back when. Bale is in a supporting role more than anything else. He was no where near any of the best scenes. He acted the part he was given very well. As for people going on about him sounding like Batman, the man only has one voice. What do expect him to do, get an op done on his vocal chords? I'm tired of hearing this.
While Salvation wasn't anything amazing I came out really liking it. It had some great scenes, some good music and an excellent lead in the proto Terminator. The script was pretty weak in parts but that seems to be a serious symptom for anything coming out of Hollywood for years now.

Transformers? Jesus wept. I can only hand it to Michael Bay that I walked out slightly unsure of whether I liked it or not. I think most of my confusion came from still having traces of explosions burnt into my retinas. That Michael Bay can do. That and nothing else. In one word, retarded.

All in my opinion, of course. :):p

It was a good timewaster but it came across to me as an extended TV episode TBH. I did expect a lot more. It did kick T3's ass though. T3 was a pile of ****.

Transformers 2 was good but nowhere near as good as the first film or the excellent Terminator Salvation

i have to agree with the general consensus of the thread so far.

ive poured scorn all over transformers 2 in my review but even i have to admit it pisses all over terminator from a great height.

its just NOT a likable film

i actually liked bale in it but the whole feel of the film itself was essentially souless and i dont think they portrayed skynet in a way that was all that original.

TF2, for ALL its many faults, HAS some genuinely heartfelt moments
prime's three way fight that ends in his death for instance. its CLASSIC prime. even as he's DYING his last thougts is to tell sam to run. also the scene with sam and his dad in egypt where he has to leave him is actually very touching

i cant really think of anything in salvation that came close to that
bar the enterance of the CGI arnie terminator. but its was more out of the blue than anything else. i got no sense of how he came about even though i know that was the whole point of why skynet was kidnapping people. the two just didnt seem connected.

also salvation REALLY did feel like "part one of three" while TF2 felt like a stand alone film.

end of the day on a pure entertainment level TF2 wins. also, and bizarrely, TF2 is better the second time around. i wasnt arsed going to see Terminator again.

i hated salvation and transformers 2 the storyline to both of them is ridiculous and that has nothing to do with the robots
