Do me a favour, will you? Put in a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority (www.asai.ie).

I encountered the same phantom job on a number of websites with a different agency and when I enquired about them, I got the usual "Oh, that job is gone. But here's one you are completely unsuited for, send me in your CV, blah, blah....".

So I got onto the ASAI and got a letter from them last week stating they were investigating.

Please, instead of ranting, do something. Recruitment Agencies need to be taught a lesson.

Absolutely. But historically, people here have been all talk and no action. So while you are ranting, follow it up with some action. :)

No. If you have a commercial interest (i.e. if you are a competitor) they will tell them who made the complaint. If you are an Average Joe, they will not.

I was on the verge of getting a new job last November, but things were put on hold and after a bit of tooing and frowing in Jan it all fell thru'. The advert I applied to is still on Irish jobs.

    • There is a lot of recruitment agencies(both on irish jobs&recruit ireland) that advertise jobs that dont exist.

what they do is create a job spec(that does not exist) advertise it people apply then they keep there C.V on file
that when a job comes in that fits person skills/spec they phone them.

I have had this done to me a couple of years ago where i applied for a job dont here any thing then a year later get phone call
from some agency wanting to know would i be interested in a particular job.

If you count the amount of jobs available on job websites i dont think the dole q would be that long the majority of
the jobs dont exist unfortunately, i myself was made redundant and signed up with an agency for work there still advertising
for people to work for them yet i have not heard a word from them

Do they have a contact number? I'd love someone to phone them up and confront them about it, see what nonsense lie they come up with.

Really? I just signed up to them, thought they were genuine when its the IT sector they are promoting and there was a link for them on gradireland website. Now I wonder....mistake!

I've gotten two interviews with them over the past five years.

Not high on my list of agencies to deal with, more in the average range.

Many agencies don't bother deleting posts that are filled, or sometimes companies don't give them feedback and a job that was filled elsewhere could be gone.

There is a lot of sloppy practice though.

Got couple of interviews through them and found them nice enough to deal with. At least the agents that I dealt with were nice...
