Northern Ireland Vs. Wales for August Bank holiday

I'm going away for August bank holiday to one or the other. Friday to Sunday. couple 26.
    Wales.
Ferry will work out at about €200 but accommodation in Cardiff is reasonable and we have an Uncle's house to stay in one night also. We'll have Oakwood, Cardiff and Uncle in Devon (I think). Travelling from Kilkenny so getting to Rosslare will be easy enough.
    Northern Ireland.
I want to see Belfast, Derry and the typical Irish sights - Giants Causeway, rope bridge etc. Bit pricier. Trip from Kilkenny to Belfast on a bank holiday will be a nightmare.

Advice from anyone who's done either and reviews?
