Its called the Zeitgeist, the spirit of the time we live. Currently people are being bombarded with negative news about the economy, fragility of jobs etc.

5 years ago, were you influenced by the zeitgeist, you would be panicing about buying a house, borrowing to invest in shares, and running up credit card debt.

Having said that, 8k is quite a bit of debt, work on chipping away until it is at a level you are comfortable with.

i think your worried because of the big R

incase you lose your job etc

maybe try pay it off asap if you can , sacrifice a few weeks out in the pub , throw an extra 1k or 2 off it and before you know its down to buttons

as you said ur life is good

lots and lots of people far worse off to be happy your not one of the unfortunate guys who's married , mortgage v high , kids , cars and no job etc
