Sky+ Freezing...again

    My Sky+ box sometimes starts freezing for a few days then stops again for a month or two.

    It started again last night with the sound skipping and then the screen freezing as if I paused it.

    The first time this happened one of Sky's engineers came to the house and deleted everything we had recorded. He said that it was freezing because we had too much recorded! :eek: But there was still about 10% free at the time! :mad: That really annoyed me because if the total amount you can record is 100%, how can 90% be too much! It did seem to solve the problem for a while though, until we started recording stuff again...the main function of a Sky+ box!

    Rang them when it started again a few weeks later and they said that they would charge us again for a 'new complaint' because we hadn't rang them to tell them it was working!? They said to contact them if it started freezing again, which we did, so I've no idea what they are talking about!

    Anyone experiencing the same problem?

    My Sky+ box plays up every few months but I think it's because we have it plugged in all the time to record stuff while we're out.

    I just unplug it for 10-15 mins to give it a break, plug it back in and it's fine for another few months.

    As above. Unplug it for a few mins and plus back in. Happens to me every so often

    My Sky+ box freezes because it's a heap of ****e.

    For a supposedly customer focussed company that relies on renewals for an ongoing stream of income (as well as the ads, obviously) Sky sure make a mess of some of the basics.

    Imagine if your DVD player just kinda sorta stopped playing the occasional DVD - it would be back with the retailer and you would have a refund. Same goes for your dishwasher - what if it just didn't wash every 20th wash or something . . . would you put up with it ? Or your PC - what if it only booted most of the time ? Why do Sky get away with selling recording boxes that only record most of the time or receivers that just lock up and stop displaying every few months ?

    Can't really answer any of that but all I can say is that I love my Sky+, I think it's thing the Baby Jebus has given us in years.

    It's crazy, when you ring them up they talk to you like you're stupid. And their advice is shocking. One said to me ''give the wires at the back a bit of a shake, jiggle them around a bit''! :eek: WTF?!
