social welfare visits?

    if your getting rent allowance and the social welfare officer visits the house do they have to give you notice that there coming or do they just do suprise visits??

    when i was getting rent allowance(4 years ago) they just arrived with no warning. annoying actually because you cant just sit in and wait for them, and if your not there when they call you be waiting another few days for them to call

    If it's a new application they would usually tell you when they are likely to visit.

    Or if you are in receipt of it they will already have visited, but they are entitled to visit you unannounced.
