    Hi all,

Im from Sweden but living in Ireland. Was reading Swedish online computer magazines this morning, and Three in Sweden will be selling the new Iphone, starting in July.

Judging from the article, it looks like that Three globaly has just become another operator to be offering Iphone. Has anyone herd anything about Three Ireland?

Contracts are offered out by Apple per country, not territory. 3 can handle any country that isn't already handled as the contracts are exclusivity contracts. So no, 3 won't be able to offer anything in Ireland.

not true. Just happens to be the case here. Take Italy for example, bot vodafone and TIM have the iphone.I hear the deal they have with 02 finished in 3 or so months...at that stage, it would make sence that either 3 or voda would get the iphone, as well as o2.

sorry, i should have clarifed. Telia Sonera which is the biggest operator in Sweden are already offering Iphone since a year or more back, and will continue. This is the second operator in Sweden that will be offering Iphone. I know that is usually been one operator per country, but looks like Apple are making deals with more operators per country.

Besides, why would Apple only cut a deal with 3 in Sweden, Not like TeliaSonera can't handle the volume. (9 million peple living in Sweden). I hope though that 3 Ireland starts selling as well :)

Thats because it is illegal to sell a locked phone in Italy. If you can't see the phone locked an exclusivity contract wouldn't be worth a lot.

As for the 3 months thing, well its really all rumor. I heard the exclusivity contracts were two years long. That would mean it running out in June sometime over here.

AT&T has exclusivity until 2010, I would imagine thats the deal they did with all the initial carriers. Would explain why O2 UK & Ireland are so bullish about their lack of upgrades and keeping their tariffs. Make hay while the sun shines, so to speak.

Rape customers while you have a monopoly. Indeed.

I'd love to see 3 get in on the iPhone game. I was disappointed to hear that O2 will appearantly be getting exclusivity with the Palm Pre too.
