Where would you recommend a group of 28 years to go skiing in Austria? Would love to stay in chalet with some great slopes and good atmosphere in the town. We were recommended Mayrhoen but would be interested to hear what others had to say.

We were in Kitzbuhel last year, good spot all round, pricey though.

We went to St Johann in Tirol two winters in a row a few years ago - must have been good as we went back!

Small village but we had fun from morning...til dawn...every day!

We were beginners so I think it's a good place for beginners.

For the last two years a group of between 8-14 of us have gone to Solden. Fantastic little town with loads of night life. Brilliant sking both years. We're all lads between 25-28 and found it much better than Andorra or Italy. Great Spa just 20 minutes up the road which you would actually spend the day in even for guys.
It's got Glaciers so it can guarantee snow. We always went Paddy's week. This year we flew into Munich hired a mini bus and drove.
PM me if you have any questions.

I was in Soll 2 years ago and Westendorf last year, group of lads both times.

I was a beginner in Soll so we went out every night as we werent really tired after the days skiing, was great night life. Skiing was good for us as beginners, no complaints. We went early feb which is mid term in holland and germany so lots of families around.

In Westendorf last year, mid jan, we progressed pretty well and did one of the black slopes by the fourth day. The have a few floodlit slopes too which are good at night. It was pretty quite and we were in small groups, about 8-10 max. We covered a lot more ground 2nd time around so we couldn't go out every night, maybe 3 big nights out of 6 I would say. Its got a great atmostsphere, got on great with the instructors and had great craic with them. There is really only 3 bars I would say go to there, 1 which is a nightclub. Its a pretty tightknit place so you will know pretty much everyone by the end and if you cant remember what happened the night before somebody will be sure to tell you the next:) The other bar is mental but in a seriously weird way. The dutch drank there from 6 to 10 and then it emptied, very weird, surreal place!

Austria is pretty good value. You will get lunch for €10+ a drink in most places, standard fair(chicken, chips, pastas, soups) bar the few hidden gems. Beers about €2/€3. Dinner anywhere from €10 to €25. Vodka can be expensive but the local things like Jaggermiester and other random shots are pretty cheap.

Mayrhofen has IMO some of the best skiing in Austria.
Lots of completely unspoilt areas perfect for off-piste skiing. Also has the steepest groomed run in Austria - can be good just to say you've done it! Plenty of options for Intermediate skiiers also.

Theres a really good nightlife but you have to take a gondola up from the town to the slopes. so alot of the time theres no snow in the town & its right next to a busy main road.
I'd prefer to go somewhere where the resort is actually at the foot of the slopes on its own, away from the traffic. But thats my own personal preference I guess.

So, great skiing & average resort IMO.
