Hi all, Have gotten into a bit of an argument with someone who may or may not be a troll on the video "dashboard jesus and the sermon of the cyclists" (which is actually pretty funny) it goes like so: (you can guess which one I am)

    BMONLY (1 month ago)
    1) we (drivers have more right, e.g. we can use the freeway and you cant)

    2) cyclist cause congestion (car = 60kph, bike = 30kph, if the bike was car then the car wont have to go around any body)

    3) considerate cyclists dosnt ride in peak hour traffic (they catch public transport to reduce congestion & for their own safety)

    4) bikes should only be used in bike/bus lane, and never used during peak hours of the day.

You've got to be kidding, AVERAGE speed of a bike in rush hour is about twice that of a car. A bike takes up much less road space than a car. Cars are the cause of rush hour congestion, not bikes. If all the people that cycle during rush hour drove instead imagine how much longer the traffic ques would be. I suggest you visit amsterdam or copenhagen to see how much more efficient a transport system based on bikes is than one based on single occupant private cars.

what you said is just a pathetic excuse for not able to afford a car and obsession with tights. Bike pass car, car slow down or change lane to get pass, by the light bike filters through which causes car to do it again hence slowing everyone else down causing a jam. Australia cannot be compared to europe, your theory will only work if majority of us got onto push bikes which is never goin to happen, untill then a bike on the road is just something cars have to move out of way for.

How the hell do you know what I can and can't afford. I have a car, a nice vw golf. My way of looking at your proposed scenario would be car passes bike pointlessly to get to back of que of cars at red light a few seconds earlier. Bike continues, car does same between next lights. At next lights car doesn't get through until the third time the light goes green and never sees bike again. Peak oil is set for 2020. You might be cycling sooner than you think.

long story short, you have just proved that bikes are "obsticles" that a car have to deal with in a already congested situation. just admit that your a pain in the ass for drivers. when bikes filters in front of me i just put my foot down, if he/she dosnt get out of the way im sorry but i will run u over. keep that in mind the next time you ride, its for your own safety.

Wow, you sound like such a lovely person. I'm beginning to doubt that you are actually serious and thinking that perhaps you're just a troll. Your profile says you are a solicitor and yet you can't spell "obstacles", are you actually just a spotty kid trying to get a rise out of someone?

Anyone have any suggestions for some sort of mind blowing witticism/crowned masterpiece of elegance that could shut him up for good? :D

As a rule, all Youtube comment arguments are the most retarded on the internet.

    What's the video?

I certainly don't deny that, and I feel immense guilt for partaking in one. Mainly it's cos I'm supposed to be studying and I'm procrastinating. Video is "Dashboard Jesus and the sermon of the cyclists" it's actually pretty funny.

It's not really a debate. more bar talk.

What do you do when you meet an a*hole in the bar? You walk away and shrug your shoulders.

(or you hit him on the head with a bottle)
