New Irons

I have been playing with the same irons (nike NDS) for about 4 years now and think its time for a change. Athough these irons have been good to me over the years I want more shot making ability and trajectory control. Thinking about buying the nike victory red blades from mcguirks (600). Anyone have any experience with these irons? And if I do buy the clubs can mcguirks custom fit the clubs? I need a more upright lie and maybe a longer shaft is there anywhere else that can do this for me? Thanks for any replies.

These blades are relatively new to the market. Are you a bit of a traditionalist in that you would like a set of blades?
If you watched the US open recently, you'd me amazed at how many pro's are using cavity back's or muscle backs. Because even pro's need some degree of forgiveness.
Any of the good shops will measure you for lie, flex and clublength, but the clubs will still only be assembled in a factory somewhere. But I'll give you some information about helping that below.
I played 9 holes last night with a guy who picked up a set of titleist 695's for €150 euro. He's been given them to try until next month. Even listening to his strikes, a lot of them were not pure, because most blades have such a small sweetspot.
At the end of the day, if you're comfortable with blades, then go ahead and treat yourself. With the sweet spot being so small blades, consider paying the extra few quid to get the shafts "pured". It will help you get more consistent strikes out of the face, and you'll need that with the blades.

"In 2008, players on the PGA TOUR who had shafts PUREd comined to win more than $138 million, including two major championships, the Tour Championship and every FedEx Cup event."

I shouldn't tell you this RD77, but the cost of getting the shafts pured from Golfsmith in the UK (Trade price) is only an extra 11 or 12 Euro per shaft. It might me worth it to tell whoever supplies you that you want that service. If they tell you its too expensive, you tell them you heard it only costs that much. Good luck with your decision

I'd start a new thread about this rather than throwing it in everytime anyone asks about a new set. Even if it has any benefits then i'd suggest for the average player then it would get lost in the noise of potential bad swings. You need to explain why it works for normal players and why do it for steel shafts (which are much more symmetrical).

To the poster......get a good set of cavity backs and get some lessons.

No bother Stockdam, I'll get a bit of information about puring, and start a new thread. Then we can have a discussion about it. I'm off on holidays.
Just as a matter of interest, why are so many guys down on puring?

Nobody is against it but it needs an open discussion.
