Help with a cheap, sunny, city holiday?

Hey all, looking for some advice.

My girlfriend and I are looking to a book a holiday, as soon as we can really, within the next week or couple of weeks. We're both students so we're on a bit of a budget, we've just finished first year in college.

Last summer I went to Prague which was amazing, the weather was superb, the city was magnificent, and we could eat in gorgeous restaurants and cafes for 7 or 8 euro, the food and living expenses were so so cheap yet of such high quality. Hostels were quite cheap too, about 15 euro a night.

Any recommendations on somewhere along these lines? Prague again isn't really an option, looking for somewhere different. We were thinking of Dubrovnik, even had basically decided, but it turns out ryanair dont fly there, and the cheapest flights we could get from aer lingus would be over 250 euro which put us off a bit. Ryanair fly to Zadar in Croatia for approx. 122 euro, but it's an eight hour bus journey from there to dubrovnik which seems extreme.

Would anyone have any advice or suggestions? As it is we're kind of lost, seems to be so many destinations but just cant seem to put a pin on somewhere where we can eat and that for so cheap but so well, that'd have good weather and be interesting to boot!

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks a million :)

    Cheers,
    Conor

Fly to Riga with either Ryanair or Aer Lingus from Dublin and spend a day or two here, bus yourself into Estonia and towards Tallin. Spend a day or two here.

Get the Ferry over to Helsinki and spend a day or two here and then fly home via Aer Lingus to Dublin.

We did it last year. Riga and Estonia are beautiful and they are CHEAP. Riga is fleecing tourists recently to be on your toes for high prices.

Hotel details, bus details, ferry details on request if needed.

Budapest could be a good option, beautiful city with loads to do. We were there in April and weather was gorgeous then so I wouldn't say you'll have any worries on that count.

Cost of living wise it's quite cheap, probably not as cheap as Prague but still way cheaper than here.

Malev and Aerlingus fly there, not sure about Ryanair.

    ryanair flies there too

zadar while not a big city is interesting for a few days plus there is fantastic days trips to some of europe best national parks all within 1-2 hours drive of zadar (public buses go to plitvice from zadar)

I second budapest. we went there last year & stayed in a great central apartment for about 60 euro per night, right beside the opera house & liszt ferenc etc. pm if you need details. I actually found budapest cheaper than prague.

P.S. Just saw earlier in Go the travel supplement of the Times that Malev are having a four day sale starting this Thursday, flights from Dublin are €99 according to the article.

Thanks a million for all the help people. We're no further towards deciding, but it's good food for thought anyway :D
