KJW M9 slingbacker

Procured a used KJW Beretta M9 carbon dioxide gas blow-back shooty-stick recently, but found that the threads for the plug part on the bottom of the mag are screwed up (ho ho) (caveat emptor). I've been thinking of getting a couple of the more normal style of gas mags, and am wondering if Bell ones will be compatible with the KJW pistol (ebaybanned do a good deal on those). Also, will I need to swap out the slide spring for a weaker one when using non-CO2 gases, or will it do okay?

This is based on the fact that I think I remember hearing somewhere that CO2 pistols are interchangeable with 'normal' gas, which might be completely wrong of course.

And while I'm being ignorant of all things slingbacker, what's the deal with leaving the mags charged for days or weeks? I'd have thought it'd be a bad idea, but I suppose scuba tanks and oxygen bottles and such do okay. I'm a little uncomfortable with binning carbon dioxide canisters after every game because I didn't use the sidearm.

Have a 1911 which takes CO2 and Green, no need to change the recoil spring for Green gas. I leave my CO2 canisters charged and it's never caused me a bother, hope that helps. Dunno about the mags, never used a CO2 M9, I know the CO2 mag for my 1911 is the same size as a Hi Cappa mag though, so maybe just check the size of the mag against a regular M9 mag.

Excellent stuff, thanks a million everybody. And, as it happens, pretty much exactly what I was hoping to hear.
