I was in Derry last weekend and heard a band on a radio station that sounded alot like The Beatles and the local DJ even mentioned the similarities. On my way back I heard the band on the station again this time with a different song.

Does anyone know what the band's name is? Slate.. Slaine?

Don't know who you mean but one band I've came across that remind me a lot of the Beatles are Os Mutantes, especially their earlier albums.

Not the same band. It must be a newer band... the DJ said a couple of times that this is the band that Oasis could have been (?)

I don't know the one you're talking about either, but if you're looking for Beatles soundalikes, you could do a lot worse than track down an album called Kontiki by an American band called Cotton Mather. Power pop gold.
