    Hi,

What's the best way to get to the lighthouse at Poolbeg? Never been familiar with that part of the city.

    Thanks,

    Shot.

You can walk out along the South Bull Wall from the Pigeon House Road.

I took this pic of it a couple of weeks ago while on the ferry from Holyhead.

Go through Ringsend/Sandymount, go down to the Shelley Banks past the old Bottle Factory site(beside the Irishtown Park) and park your car and then walk along the pier straight up to the lighthouse.

Go down Pigeon House Rd from the roundabout from the left on the map.

Follow the entire length of the road. You will pass alot of containers docked on the left and obviously the sewage plant(hold your breadth:D) on the right.

Once you reach the end of the road, you will have passed over sand on the road and be struggling for parking amongst the hordes so thats when you know you are there :)

Its a great spot(the bull wall) watching the ferries and container ships passing, enjoy it!

Is it a good spot for going for a run?

    Well, yes and no.

If you run along the pier, you will be encountering strong onshore breezes down there so it depends on how strong a jogger you are :)

Irishtown park which is right beside it is full of joggers, nice spot. You will not be out of place going for a jog down there, you can even jog on the beach if you like :)

And pray your car is untouched when you get back!.

I love the south wall, the beach at the Shelly Banks is great too and its a lovely walk along the south wall - its just a pity this lovely area is (like the rest of Dublin) scouraged by scumbags.
