    my ipod classic keeps pausing randomly

    can you add anything to make it shutdown if not used after a period of time

    Might be a problem with the headphones, could they be coming loose? Are you using the white Apple headphones? There used to be a problem with gold plated jacks - not sure if this is still the case though.

    Try Extras > Alarms (or Clocks) > Sleep Timer.

    do you definitely have the hold button down? the you might be accidentally be pressing the button

    The random pausing on the classic was a known bug that I don't think apple have ever addressed, it's to do with a buffer refill issue that occurs most commonly when rather large files are being played, it's one of the reasons I got rid of my classic last year.

    its not happening as much now - but it is really annoying still
