In car charger and fm transmitter - Anyone got one?

I've been trying to decide on an in car unit to hold, charge and play my iPhone 3G's music while on the go. There are a lot of generic units on the market that might fry my iPhone but I found one on the apple store here:

Has anyone got one of these, heard about them or is there an alternative? I'm currently using the iPhone's earplugs to listen to music while driving but I'm not sure if the Gardai would see this as an opportunity for pulling me for dangerous driving?

Griffin iTrip Auto with SmartScan FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone

    http://nexus404.com/Blog/2008/05/22/griffin-announces-itrip-autopilot-fm-transmitter-for-ipod-iphone-song-information-offered-via-rds/

This is the one I use. I got it in Currys in Belfast. I think it was about 50 pounds.

It has RDS so the song you are playing is displayed on the radio. The first 8 characters and it scrolls through the title.

THe end that goes into the cigar lighter has a pause play button and a next track / previous track button, and it glows red if charging and green if charged.

    Great setup.

Here is a review, and if you click on the pictures on the bottom they enlarge.

I dont think they can, as you are using your headphones as a "hands free" option for your iphone.

Although i wouldn't recommend driving with headphones in thats just the excuse to use should you get stopped.

Just bought an iPhone 3GS and was pretty annoyed to find that it doesn't work with the older generation road trip, I only bought it on eBay a few months ago to use with my iPod . I'm gonna have to buy one of these now. Unless anyone knows a way of getting the older one to charge the iPhone?? I don't use the transmitter.

    Hi
I just got this one http://store.apple.com/ie/product/TP803ZM/A
55 euro from Harvey Norman yesterday and very very good, the sound is radio and near CD quality easy set up but the arm could be a little longer.

normal Harvey Norman price is 99 euro but Curry's have them for 79, i am sure the net is cheaper again.
