    hi all,

I am going buying a van:D. and without getting pros and cons of manufactures, i want pros and cons of short wheel base vs long wheel base.

    I can only think of,

long wheel if you need more floor space rather than height,

short wheel is possibly easier in car parks. .

would appreciate any other points, I guess you long term van drivers have a few more, and probably more valid points.

    cheers,
    cissor.

do you need to carry 8*4 sheets in the back?
will you need to carry lengths of timber/pipes etc inside the van?
will it fit on your driveway?
will you be reversing a trailer with it?
will you be using it around town?
will you expect to park it in a car parking space?

do you need to carry 8*4 sheets in the back? well, not really, i assume this will fit them if i needed them??
will you need to carry lengths of timber/pipes etc inside the van? yes? building my home.
will it fit on your driveway? yes
will you be reversing a trailer with it? no
will you be using it around town?well, wont be going to tescos if thats what you mean
will you expect to park it in a car parking space? well, i know it wont fit, so i wont try to fit it. .lol

    great points..

to be honest, , my 2 friends have just moved into their homes, and im just starting, they have wished, and i see it, that they bought a cheap van for construction. . all the messin has their cars wrecked . ..

so im going building, and i have nothing to loose, i can use the van for work also. .

just make sure an 8*4 sheet fits, for example, it will fit in a LWB Hiace, but not a SWB.

lwb, usually less than 500mm difference (hiace, transporter, traffic, etc)
between each but reckon its better to have that extra space rather than to be lookin for it!

if you are thinking of a hiace/transporter/h100 etc I would get the LWb, believe me you need to be able to carry an 8x4 sheet. If its a transit/trafic/ducato then a SWB is plenty. all of these vans can be parked in a town (once you dont have a trailer on;))
