ok I'm a newbie to iPhone - and i *think* i understand apps but i want to make sure i have the right end of the stick.
Am i right in saying that some apps are a bit like the games for iPod - you download them and use them whenever? Then there are some apps (like BBC news one) that actually will need a data stream and feed in......

I'm just making sure I fully understand, and that i have it right - in case i am using apps like a fool and using up my data allowance!!

That said, i dont even have an iPhone yet so hopefully i will next week and i wont have to wait!

Pretty much it in a nutshell.
Apps that need daily updating use either a WiFi connection (and don't eat into your 1Gb pm limit) or 3G which does eat into your limit, but 1Gb pm is huge, I'm a heavy user and still only manage to use about 150 Mb pm.

games apps dont eat into your allowance unless they are specifically online games or if an update is released.

Apps are no different to applications on your PC.

Some need an internet connection (e.g. weather, Google maps, BBC news), so don't (e.g calculator, notes, camera).

So yes, you download them via the App store and use them whenever you want.
