k i ve posted before something similar im not gonna deny that...
does anyone else feel like whats the point to life...... like its the same thing day in day out.... you put up the same stuff just diferent days..... life is supposed to be for living not just going through the motions to get by.
nothing seems exciting anymore.... even lil things that i used to enjoy doing are meaningless..
i would give anything to go travelling - every one else seems to be able to get on the plane / ferry whatever without having stupid panic attacks and worryign about absolutely everything that could possibly go wrong so why cant i??

    Hey Jenny,

I think we all have days, times like that in life, is there a point, are we alone etc. Ya kinda have to find the thing that drives ya forward and often that is hard, no doubt about it. I see my friends all moving ahead in life in their own ways, kids, married, gone travelling, but I look for what I have done. I think we all have had some success in our own ways, but its hard to see it sometimes. As far as travelling, I hate flying too, with a passion, I done it this yr first time in 7 yrs, on way home I walked outta the airport cause weather was bad, but I ended up drinking 6 brandys (booze is never the answer by the way) but it got me home. Ferry is grand, I love the ferry, ya should try it, even the HSS to Isle of Man, I swear its like a bus!!!!!!!!!! But sometimes when I look for a point when I am feelin down, I look to my family, my nephews nieces, folks, bros & sis, they gimme the drive to go on. I always say if today is bad, tomo will be better and the day after that better still. Always remember, your not alone

go on a recession holiday. lots of obscure places to visit around here without spending much. rathlin, isle of man like Squor mentioned, aran islands, norn iron.

go to obscure places and slum it. foot passenger trip to france? england is mostly a depressing ****hole but i'm sure there are nice places if you look. isle of wight isn't half bad, though not remote enough for my liking

its a shame that muppet Kim Jong-iL closed the border to the hermit state or you'd be able to take the freaking train to Busan.

don't really like taking the plane anymore mostly because i hate the overkill, overly invasive security measures, having to show way before the flight leaves, being herded on and off the plane like cattle. i think Gatwick has to be just about the worst airport

Ferry is grand particularly this time of yr in good seas, 3 hrs by slow boat, an hr and a half on Jonathon Swift to Wales, cant go too far wrong there

I agree. The attitude of the Irish people towards their own country is terrible. I am the first one to admit that there are areas to be addressed, but I feel that the negative mental attitude we have towards almost everything is awful, and will certainly not serve to help or improve anything.

There really are some beautiful places to go for a break in this country, if only we weren't so bloody critical of everything Irish and took a chance we would be pleasantly suprised.

To the OP, you refer to this country as a 'crappy' country. As Mr. Cartman truly states, there are a lot of people from lots of different countries that dream of living in a country like this. Your attitude is not helping your situation at all. We all feel down from time to time, but focusing on the negativities in your life wont help. Try looking at the positives. E.g. How lucky you are to have a supportive family, nice job, whatever it is that you consider positive in your life.

I might also suggest introducing someting new in your life. Go on a date, join a gym, look at some evening course. Anything to break the repetitive pattern in yor life, something to get stuck into and look forward to.

OP, we all have spells of being glum from time to time but if your life is chronically joyless, have you considered that you might be suffering from depression?

Jenny, you need to shake yourself up. I suggest you go to Paris. You can go by ferry and train if you need to. Walking around the City of Lights on a summer's night will remind you why life is beautiful.

this country is crappy to some of us especially when ur sick of the mundane day to day stuff, same way the tourists come here to get away from their mundane routine
Ill enjoy this country when ive seen something new,

Hey Jenny. There is a point to it all, but its different for all of us. I could be wrong. All I know is we are the proud owners of a spark of conciousness so we should make the most of our time here now. If you really want to travel you should go for it. You may be outside your comfort zone for a time but you'll feel so much better for having done so. :)

Your post made me think of this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cy4RWR0zl20

If its the same things you are doing day after day that's boring you do something new. it doesn't have to be anything out of this world. Decide on a nice meal you want to cook , go buy the ingredients and cook it for yourself or for a bunch of your friends. Read inspirational books like Gandhi's biography or christina noble's story of setting up the orphanages in Vietnam . Fantastic journeys of courage to the south pole by tom crean and shackelton.
Beautiful music. Take up yoga and/or meditation. It helps you live in the moment.

Travelling will also get boring if you can't enjoy the small simple things in life first. Believe me, I know,I've been there. i did a lot of travelling always thinking i should be enjoying it more and not quite getting what I wanted from it.
I still don't know the meaning of life but I know we only get one chance at it so make the most of it.
