    Not worth it
Just had my weekend of cycling ruined as Mrs Fowl has decided to visit her ma and expects me to mind the kids !
    Is that unreasonable or what?

Would it be easier to look after the kids if you weren't married?

Try petulance and Mr Grumpy until she relents and takes the kids with her to see granny, then tell her she's depriving you of bonding time by taking them away, go cycling, make sure you let her know on her return that you couldn't enjoy the time on the bike due to her taking the kids from home and the bad feelings it has caused.

Surely the whole point of mother in laws is free babysitting?

Off to the nursing home with her, she's clearly of no use.

    Get divorced.......

......actually don't - you end up wasting money you could spend on bike stuff on things like maintenance.

I'm on for the second turn on the merry-go-around and I got engaged again recently - couldn't help comparing the ring to bikes - you get a lot more carbon fibre for your Euro than you do platinum that's for sure!!!

You could play the sunday is fathers day card ie daddy gets to spend the day how he wants.... Note however i played it last night and she trumped it

Seriously play the "Granny not seeing the kids much" card.

Be careful about the Fathers day card as it could be used as an excuse to allow more "bonding" aka "your turn to look after...."

It wouldn't be a thread on the cycling forum without an ad for some product in the first ten posts!

Thanks - as they say, the second time around it's the triumph of hope over experience:)

.......and as for cycling, herself bought me my first decent bike as a pressie - I suppose the least I could do was marry her!! Hopefully I'll get an even better bike then!

She did ask me what present did I want from her for the wedding, but she quickly followed that up with ".......and nothing to do with bikes."

Also in the interests of keeping the weight down on the bike I was going to get a titanium / carbon fibre wedding ring!!!:)

    Every gram counts!

I go out at least one of the days at the weekend, be it Saturday or Sunday, but the day I don't go out is family day, even if it's sitting around watching crap on the telly, we do it together.
