    Hi
Hit a bad pothole there yesterday in a passat could hear a loud cling as i went over it aaagh!!
Anyways after I drove on a bit the cover on the underside of the car fell off this is a large plastic covering with foam that covers the whole underside of the car ....do i need to get this replaced immediatly or can you drive a bit without it ?????can't make it to a garage for about a week.
There also seemed to be a bit of water leaking from underside i hope its not the radiator

Are you 100% sure its water? If its leaking I would get it brought to a garage straight away. Could wind up doing more damage in the meantime.

I'd get the car checked out asap as you could've damaged suspension also. And also to make sure radiator not damaged as if it leaks too much you could do major damage to engine.

Its ALWAYS better to be cautious and check things out when it comes to "I think I may have damaged something" when it comes to cars.

the plastic cover just protects the engine from dirt - probably add to aerodynamics. Alot of 156s go around without the undershield as they tend to get thorn off (esp on the heavier engines).

The water leak may just be the condensation from your Aircon (if you have it). Its prob worth getting checked out anyway or at least keep a very close eye on all your fluids (coolant/oil/etc)

The sump cover are notorious for comming off the passats. Often see them flapping away underneath cars. Its could be the rad so id get it checked out. If you have climate in the car and turned on it could be quiet innocent, water condenses from the aircon system and often drips under the car.

That cover is only held on by a few speed screws, I put two self tapping screws under each wheel arch to ensure it stays where it is.
