I went to the mullet in mayo for a few days this week and got a few interesting photos......

The twite is a small brown bird, quite like a linnet but confined to high coastal areas along the west coast, namely mayo and donegal. It is estimated from recent studys that there is only 100 breeding pairs left in ireland

This fellow was preening himself near erris head, at glenlaragh.

    ..... has a bit of a stretch

..... fluffs up and then flys off

Later in the day, when visiting an abondoned building, we came across a pair of wheatears that were breeding nearby

The biggest suprise came that evening, a snowy owl, out by annagh head. A real rarity in ireland. Apologies, these next few photos are'nt the best snowy owl photos but they were a shot that the subject matter was more important then the artistic value of the photo.

Shes looking straight at me, with those bright orange eyes

As theres area nearby where gulls and terns hatch, a predator wouldnt be tolerated, she was mobbed by a large number of gulls

And then decides to take off
