have a flight booked for Tues with Ryanair - planned to use my drive licence with my new old name....
I now see on online check - in that driv licence can't be used. My passport has my old name on.

What to do? check in online with passport in other name and bring birth and marriage cert?

Buy another ticket in passport name? - will be very expensive!!!!

Get local politician to rush me a passport through on Monday!!!!

do name change - pay big fee!!!!

check in at airport and pay big fee!!!!

any other cheap and easy options??

From what I have read before (Cant remember where!) but what you have described is one of the only name change situations which Ryanair dont charge for. Ring their "Customer Service" and they should sort it out.

Was travelling a couple of years ago to Italy and my friend had same problem, she had to buy another ticket - sorry.... They were so so strict about it, that being said she didnt realise it till she arrived at airport, so maybe if you can tell them beforehand you'll be ok.

spoke to cust serv who first of all wanted to charge me for a name change - but when I explained I am not transferring the ticket, it is still for me! ...they said I must fax a request and marriage cert!!!!! They have a huge back log of faxes to deal with so I may or may not have my request dealt with in time!!!! I spoke since to another cust serv assistant and he advised me to take the marriage cert with me to the airport:)

Will let you know the outcome when I get back next week:D

Flip...good luck, it's a bit dependent on who you get on the phone/desk isnt it? Scary..

here is how it worked out...

in Knock, I went to the Ryanair info desk before the flight, showed them all my documents and explained and they were very helpful and gave me a boarding card and wrote the surname on it to match my passport

in Stansted, did the same, went to desk and explained and showed docs, they then made the necessary changes on the computer and I then had to go to one of the check-in self service machines to print my new boarding card - no charges at all!

It worked out well - the fax never got dealt with, but at the airports the Ryanair staff were all excellent and accomodating:)
