Got a new HD TV 32LG2000 when I was tuning it in the Freeview found RTE 1/2 DTV channels but they are only sound no picture. Anyone have any idea how to get the digital picture or is it still in test

Your television most likely is only MPEG2. DTT in this country will be MPEG4. Odd that you didn't find TV3 and TG4.

The 32LG2000 is mpeg-2 only which is the UK DTT standaard, Ireland will used the newer mpeg-4. But it has a CI slot, you one can get a card to add the mpeg-4 finctionally, but better to get a stb.

It still in test and not an offical service, so gets turned off/up/down a lot.

IF you go one to the Terrestrial forum you will find some threads about the cards, donot work in all TVs and can overheat.

STB is a "Set Top Box", like the UPC/NTL/Sky/FreeSat boxes, also some threads on them, they are also combo boxes, which do DTT and Sat...

You bought old stock from last year. The LH2000 from this year is fully irish DTT capable.

I that info about this issue needs to be stickified as the influx of these posts will be unreal when the masses realise they get digital tv only for it to backfire when they see they have MPEG2 receivers.
