Anxiety issue, not sure where to go from here...

    Hey all,

Made a thread a while ago (went as unregistered for it) and pretty much asked about how you'd go about talking to your Doctor about social anxiety issues, etc. and so forth.

For weeks hadn't got the balls to ring and book an appointment, but eventually caved in today (had a really bad day) and decided i'd take a step forward and book an appointment.

I'm broke at the moment, and so asked if I could use a medical card, before booking the appointment. I was told that my doctor "has a quota for the amount of patients he can treat that have medical cards, but he isn't taking on any more medical card holders at the moment. That's not to say he doesn't treat people with medical cards, he's just not accepting any at the moment".

So, I'm pretty unsure what to do now. Although I knew myself I was going to put off going to my Doctor as long as I could, I was always sure the option to talk to him about it would be there, but apparently not, so I'm just looking for some direction from anyone out there who may have been in a similar situation (or even has any suggestions).

Thanks a whole lot for reading this, and thanks to anyone able to help me out here at all.

Perhaps you could contact your local health office and get a list of other registered GPs practising in your area?

Taking the step to get help was a big one and it's terrible that it didn't work out. Keep trying, though, you can only improve from here :)

Do you actually have a medical card? If so the named GP on it should be able to see you without you having to register. You should be on their list already.

    Hi,

Xiney, thank you for the link, I shall look into it.

I only noticed that, actually. Yes, my Dr.'s name is on the card. I never actually gave my name to the girl I was talking to on the phone (couldn't wait to hang up after I rang) so I'm thinking,if it could be be at all possible that she thought I was ringing as someone who was looking to transfer over?

I've been to this Doctor before a few times over the past few years, and I nevre had any issue (and I used the card each time), but I thought I'd read before that GP's were no longer accepting them, so I asked to make sure before making an appointment (don't want to book an appointment and have a surprise fee awaiting me when I attempt to leave after meeting my Doctor).

    Argh.. Confusing :(
