Is it free or what? I have no idea what to do, someones blood went on to a open cut of mine and I dont know where to go or who to talk to. I did nothing sexual but hold hands... The blood from the cut on their finger went onto the cut on my finger as well. There was so much blood. Why dont I know what to do in these situations, surely we should of been made aware. I dont even know if theres a free clinic you can go to when your worried about these things. What annoys me the most is all I done was hold hands with someone and nothing else.

I just have no idea what to do or no one to talk to. All I did was hold someones hand and now I have to worry about this. Can someone help me out please? I know this is the best way to transmit a disease.
    Thanks.

    Jesus man, relax!

Do you know the person was ill?

All I know is she was a complete social butterfly, and a high chance of having some sort of sexual disease or infection. Getting their blood into your blood stream is far more dangerous i think.

Being sexually active or promiscious might increase someone's risk, but that doesn't mean they have a disease that can be carried in the blood.
If she has anthing, it's most likely to be something down south and not anthing that would be in her blood.

You didn't have sex so you don't need an STI clinic. If you want peace of mind, go and speak to your GP, tell him your concerns and ask him for blood screening tests.

They do blood tests at the clinics I thought? She could of had HIV that travels through the blood stream..

Really wasn't... Not very helpful all the same, it could of been a boy for all I care, im not talking about the sexual part, all im worried about is someones blood going into my blood stream... Thats nothing to do with being with a girl... Wouldn't you be worried if your open cuts were covered with blood from someone else...?

Listen, there's around 400 cases of HIV every year. It works out at around 95 people per million.
1 third of the new cases last were were from africa or the Carribean.
Most of the cases were through Hetero sex, then gays, then drug-addicts. People being accidently infected in the way you think doesn't even rate, probably because it doesn't happen that often at all.

I honestly wouldn't. I might as well be eyeing up the sky in case a satellite is about to fall on my head, the chances are so remote.

Lets forget about the sexual disease part, any type of disease could of been in that blood stream. Surely someones blood going into your bloodstream is far more effective in contracting some sort of a disease than having sex with them?

    Hi Op,

If this happened recently you need to wash the cut under plenty of running water and try to make it bleed as much as you can. Do you know it the other person has an illness, Or are you just worried that they might, if you are worried you should go to a dr with this person and both of you will have to have blood samples taken, so that they can see what the chances of a cross infection there are, (if the other person already has an illness then it will show up in their blood sample whereas if you have just picked up an infection from them then it wont show up in your blood for some time) If you are really worried they can start you on a anti viral drug until such time that the blood results are ready.

I have been there, got a needle stick injury at work but it worked out fine, chances are your situation will work out fine too but go get those blood tests and speak to your Dr.

Not really, first of all when you have a cut, blood is pushing out
Secondly, a cut starts to seal up within a minute or two.

    How old was the cut?

If it happened recently just be aware you'll have to wait 13 weeks to get it checked out.

Most blood borne diseases happen with people in high risk groups like men who have sex with men and people from high risk areas like Sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia.

Just go to your GP for peace of mind, they'll test for everything (sexually transmittable or otherwise.) I'd imagine the chances of actually catching anything are fairly remote though.

Is she concerned about the possibility she may have caught something from you?

The cut was fresh as in bleeding aslong as i can remember but could of stopped. I just thought you could go to the sti clinic in the southth infirmary as they do all the blood tests, and I thought it would of been for free?
