    I'm sick of it.

Got a blank email from an agency and replied saying basically '???' and got back an email 3 days later, with my name spelt wrong, with a job spec that is completely different to what I currently do.. also its a 9 months contract in the midlands..

I'm sick of these guys having my details, so every time I receive one of these emails (roughly every 6 weeks), I tell them to remove all of my details, but they just keep coming back...

    ..just a rant really...

To be fair, some agencies would use a group email system and email every single candidate on the database under a certain profession.

For example, you work as a front office manager in a Hotel, the agency gets a job for a food and beverage manager. The easy option is to do a mail shot to all candidates registered under hotel and catering rather than trawling the database looking for every F+B manager.Details may be entered wrong in the specific job category which can result in suitable candidates been missed.

    Anyway,its only an email.
Its not like they are harrassing you with weekly phone calls is it?

As for the spelling mistakes, well that is unprofessional.

It might not be harassment, but it doesn't really justify the fees they charge.

I've used them from both sides of the fence many times: there are some very good ones, and some very bad ones. In my experience, the common feature of the very good ones is that they employ a real person to read the CVs and candidate spec's and go to the trouble of matching them.

What else are we paying for after all?

If you ask them to remove your file from their system they must obey, its the law. I think its under the Data Privacy and Protection Act. Just threaten them and mention the act, I doubt they'll continue after that.
