Im in the situation of being treated in my local dentists (where the medical card is registered/attached to)
This dentist is not able to perform Oral surgery, so has referred me to a place that can do the removal.

Q's! The place he referred me to says that it accepts medical cards ect, but yet Im being charged for this treatment as a result of the referral

They are both registered for medical cards, so how come Im being asked to pay a lot of $$$$ for this treatment?
can I not just walk into the one Im being referred to, and ask for an appointment and save myself $$$$??

    yours seriously confused!

    thanks.

Dont see why you would have to pay if have a full medical card. Dentist usually refers back to the Health Boards own dentist for Oral Surgery afaik. If this is the case you should be covered under your card.

If you need a general anaesthetic I think you would have to pay though as afaik the Health Board don't offer general.

Try the Dental Hospital if costs too much through Health Board. Big waiting lists and you will have to pay something but maybe not as much as you are being quoted at moment.
