NCT and Road Tax

    Hello All,

Can anyone tell me for certain that my tax does not have to be in date to do an NCT? Have checked their website and there is no mention of it - closest comes to it is that your plates need to be legal. Technically I cannot get tax without NCT so its an oul cart and horse thing...:)

Background is that I imported earlier this year and have not got around to selling my old car so are now going to get it serviced and NCT'ed in hope of selling it. When it comes to taxing it (as an incentive to buy it) I am just gonna get a letter from the local Garda station to say it's been off the road and just get 3 months on it.

    Thanks for any help
    Paddy

Great stuff.. what I hoped. Just need to get a booking now and then transfer insurance for the service and NCT.

    Thanks

How long is the tax out? You saying your only getting the NCT and a few bits done when a Garda pulls you in wont stop it being impounded if he's that way inclined.
