    Right,
Booked the Sky install for next monday.
Want to cancel NTL. Received a bill there today for the next couple of months, not paid it yet.
Should I call NTL on monday to cancel and sort out the money owed to them or can I advise them today that I want to be cancelled from monday? Also, will they refund any money for unused days subscription?

UPC/NTL require 30 days notice to cancel, so when you call tomorrow, you have to pay for the next 30 days.

When you finished with them, ring them and ask them to collect the stb, otherwise they will bill you for not returning them.

I just cancelled my ntl account, i was anticipating them to the usual ignorant buggers that they are so my first form of contact was formal email, stating that my soliciter is involved should they try any funny stuff. It worked, less then 24 hours later im free of the bastards!

30 day notice to be given, and TBH I'd make sure to give this in a written form as well as just phoning them up (keep a copy of the letter and e-mail too in case the one you send off "goes missing").

They should just cancel your account (although they never called out to collect my parent-in-law's box when they cancelled), and once you pay whatever you actually owe them (i.e. the last 30 days worth), if you have a SO/DD set up to pay your bill cancel this too (I have heard of some people continuing to get charged via DD even though they cancelled, and it was hard work to get the monies owed returned).

Becarefull and make sure you send a letter to your bank and UPC telling them to cancel incase you are going to do it online. I did it online and sent a letter to both in sept 07 and the direct debit was cancelled after the time frame, but UPC where able re activate the direct debit in Jan 08 and took a couple hundered euro out of my account. They did give me a refund but it was a nightmare trying to phone them and they sent out a cheque for the wrong amount twice etc.

Even still was worth it to get sky.

Anyone got the exact e-mail address and postal address they used (successfully) to cancel a sub?

I recently (successfully!) cancelled my tv package with them and used the following email address; resolutionteam@upc.ie

I don't have an address for them. I just rang them and gave my 30 days noticed of cancellation, I then was given the above email address and sent a confirmation email of my intention. Worked for me anyway.

Same here, thats the one I used.

A guy rang me about 5 weeks later to arrange pickup of the equipment, gave it to him (this was sometime in July last year)
About a week ago another guy called to the house looking to pick up the stuff, explained it to him, serious communication issues there.

Presently with ntl and contemplating change.

One of the negatives with sky is if/when I need to phone them its gonna cost 35c per minute. o2 mobile to sky 0818 number is very expensive.
    (I don't have a landline).

Yes but you'll have to spend €8 for it (ie. if it costs 42 it will go up to 50).
