I'm in Crumlin and looking out towards Inchicore/ Phoenix Park direction there's a massive amount of black smoke in the sky. It looks like a huge fire somewhere.

    Anyone know what's going on?

I'm a bit closer to it - it seems to be around the factory site on Davitt Road (where Irish Blindcraft used to be). Whatever it is, it looks like it's getting worse.

I've just got a text saying there is a huge fire in Cabra.

Just noticed it there, looks like it's coming from John Player Wills which is at the top of my road. I'll go and investigate in 20 mins after my dinner.;)

i saw it billowing out behind houses between the bluebell and blackhorse stops on the Luas. I am not sure of the street names.

the GF took a picture there from our house near James Street and it was clearly viewable.

If people can see it from Terenure it must be huge!

lots of sirens going off now - I'm near the canal and they must be coming from several directions.

it looks like the smoke is dying down a bit now though, but there's still a lot of it.

you must be near me so, and there's no sign of it dying down yet - there's still lots of thick black smoke billowing up. I can smell burning now as well.

Wow that first photo is pretty frightening,I heard it mentioned on the news just there but they didn't say much about it.

I believe the Gardai are advising people to panic. They recommend hastily bundling all your possession into your car and hitting the M4 to Galway.

Alternatively this might be a good idea to consider which one of kids should be eaten first.

Just heard plenty of sirens there going down around SCR probably on route.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 315 ✭✭Lpfsox

just looked out the window again at it - saw flames for a few mins, must have been 20 feet up in the air. It's mostly smoke now though, but still very thick and black. Wonder what was in the building to generate that amount of thick smoke as those factories have been idle for a long time.

Local roads are closed off and gardai are everywhere.

Part of the Davitt Road is closed along with the Luas. The fire brigade are pumping water out of the canal.

Is it the factory that was been unused for a few years? Its quite large, think white railings out front? If its the one im thinking about it did have security last time i passed by

Wow, I'm really not that bright at all. I saw rain clouds over Harold's Cross yesterday evening and was very relieved and surprised at how fast they were moving. Not rain clouds at all. I fail :(

I was in Spar near Suir Road yesterday evening and when I came out that was the first thing I thought, 'gonna get lashed on before I get home' :pac: My second thought was 'oh god my house has blown up'. Was a scary sight from where I live.

Coupled with half of the quays being closed for traffic for over 2 hours, I thought it was some sort of terrorist attack.
