Don't feel so special

This is going to sound a bit stupid but anyway. I'm seeing this new guy for the last few months having broke up with my ex last year. My ex had had two long term relationships before me, seemed to have very high standards and was picky about who he went out with, so naturally this made me feel special. This new guy has slept with about 10 girls, some of whom he didn't even seem to like much and also scored almost every girl in his area! So I can't help feeling that he has NO standards. Before we got together we were walking along and this absolute munter (not being a b*tchy girl, she really was rotten) dressed like a hooker walked past and he said she was hot and he'd hit it! And he wasn't joking. Now we're together he treats me really well, but this is still bothering me. I'd have pretty high standards myself, only been with a handful of guys, and it bothers me that he doesn't seem picky at all!

If, as you claim, you have high standards and his are apparently much lower, why are you with him?

Because I like him as a person. That doesn't mean we don't have a different idea of 'high standards'.

Well why don't you go out with him but not have sex? Then you'll find out if he thinks you're special or not...

Thinking yer one is ' hot ' and ' hitting it' is one thing but to say it in your company shows a lack of respect for you .

What you seem to be getting at is that if he doesn't have high 'standards' and he's with you, then that doesn't reflect well on you. Is that what you're worried about? How his preference for women will affect other peoples' perception of you? Because it's hard to see why else you would be so concerned about his past 'standards'.

Ironically it's quite possible that he may not have high standards as you put. Maybe he's interested in any woman. Even ones who are vain and self-absorbed.

They weren't together at the time, so it's not as bad as it sounds.

It does demonstrate that he is a bit of a boor, however.

It mustn't have made as much of an impact on the OP either; because she still ended up with him!

OP - if it annoyed you / gave you such a bad opinion of him, how did ye end up together, and why ?

Because there's much more to a person than just one thing. It did annoy me and I did think I wouldn't want to go out with him, but then things changed, I found him more and more attractive etc. I saw other qualities I liked. Doesn't mean this one doesn't still bother me.

Unregistered, I don't see what's vain and self absorbed about thinking it's good to be picky and not score the whole town, and wanting the same in a partner.
