Finding better players on ICC

What is the best way to get games against 2000+ players on ICC does anyone know?

These players rarely seem to be looking for games on the seek graph, but when you look at the games list there are lots of them logged on and playing.

be rated 2000+ yourself? it shouldn't be too hard to find opposition at that level for blitz or bullet games, longer games is a different matter.

also you should be able to seek a game yourself and set a formula so you only accept opposition in a certain rating range.

Lol. Chicken/egg etc. Getting your rating 2000+ is tricky when you're always playing folks around 1500. I usually play 2 12. I suppose I could seek games and wait around for 15-20 mins, but by then I'm usually in a poker game! Are there any popular weekly tournaments or anything?

there's definitely tournaments, I don't play there really though (I play on FICS) but I'd expect to get a game in less than a minute at any popular time control. I don't think too many strong players are playing 2 12 though, probably mostly 5 0.

If you crush the 1500s though you'd be 1800 in no time, if you crush the 1800s youd be 2000 etc, I can't imagine it would take more than 3 hours total.

There's very few 1800's too. Usually I crush the 1500's, get bored, and then mess around until I'm back around 1600 myself. Maybe I'll try FICS for a while. Thanks.

    Found 'em!
For anyone who's interested: there are buttons on the dasher interface for 1 minute, 5 minute and 15 minute games. It turns out that these are for a separate group of players than you can meet on the seek graph.

The point is that you are automatched with someone else from the, eg, 5 minute pool, who is rated near you, and because you can't handpick your opponent, the ratings for that pool are "clean".

No problems finding a game now.
    Cheers.

ps stumbled across this on the 2+2 chess forum.

I wish I had your problem, I don't think I've ever even reached 2000 on ICC (I usually play FICS). I can crush the 1500s though.
